The University of Zululand (UNIZULU) required a complete overhaul of their KwaDlangezwa, Richards Bay and Alumni websites and the addition of various functional elements.
The previous site had been built on a custom built, php-based CMS which had outlived its usefulness. Our brief was to create a site that had robust CMS functionality, able to function under high stress and able to store vast amounts of information and serve it back rapidly on demand. After initially determining that the Joomla platform was too unstable and poorly supported, we implemented WordPress as the base platform as it has included excellent CMS functionality over the past few years. After hardening the installation through various plugins and tweaks to the core wordpress code we were able to present a world-class site that was not only user-friendly and attractive, but also tough and capable with an easy learning curve for staffers.
